And spoiler alert: it does it really well. It is designed to manage data from relational databases. SQL stands for Structured Query Language. It is also a chance to put into practice what you learned during your SQL 101 on a browser window, but never got a chance to experience the feel of database management software. SSMS is a powerful tool, and an interesting skill to have on your belt if you’re looking to skill-up or interview for another job. We’ll also schedule jobs, create SSIS packages… If you’re not familiar with some of those terms, you’ll soon get more than a grasp, and create and manage them yourself. We’ll write, save and alter our own stored procedures. In the next articles, we’ll create our own databases and tables. Today we’ll start with a setup of the environment.
